Subdivisions and larger lots

Single-family homes are the city's largest developed land use, most of them in suburban subdivisions, with larger-lot homes toward the edges, such as the northeast side just south of I-35. A large home on an open lot often has a bigger, more exposed roof; a subdivision home from around 2000 may still be on its original one.

Wind checks

Thunderstorm gusts estimated at 70 mph damaged fences and carports near Samuel Clemens High School in January 2020. Wind like that can lift and crease shingles without an obvious leak, so a look after a strong storm is worthwhile. If you file an insurance claim, we can meet your adjuster; you and your insurer manage the claim.
