Big hail and strong gusts
The largest hailstone the National Weather Service received from the April 12, 2016 storm, 4.5 inches across, fell about three miles southeast of Helotes. NOAA also logged three-inch hail in Helotes in April 2019 and 75 mph gusts in the Waterford Park neighborhood in May 2020. After a storm like that, look from the ground for missing or lifted shingles and dented metal, then call us.
Storm and hail damageRoofs and wildfire readiness
Helotes calls itself the Gateway to the Texas Hill Country, and wildfire is a recognized risk in northwest Bexar County: fire officials there put a community wildfire protection plan in place in 2023, after nearby wildfires that included a 3,005-acre fire in northern Bexar County in 2022. A roof in good repair and gutters clear of dry leaves make it harder for embers to catch. We work on shingle, metal and tile roofs and on gutters.
