Hill Country storms

Boerne's storms can be severe. On May 3, 2021, NOAA logged 2.5-inch hail in Boerne and baseball-size hail at Tapatio Springs, and in April 2017 gusts estimated at 90 mph destroyed a large metal building. After hail like that, a roof can look fine from the street and still be damaged.

Newer homes, first roofs

Most Boerne homes are relatively new, many in large neighborhoods such as Esperanza and Ranches at Creekside on Highway 46 East. A house built in the early 2000s may still have its original roof, now more than twenty years old.

Roofs and wildfire readiness

Kendall County's community wildfire protection plan says nearly all of the county's growth is where homes meet open land, and it recommends ember screens in roof vents, gutter screens and a fire-resistant roof kept in good condition. If you're planning a new roof or gutter work, ask us about it.
