Questions to ask before you sign
Good questions for any finance provider, whatever you're financing.
What will I repay in total?
Ask for the total you'll repay over the whole agreement, not only the monthly payment.
Are there fees?
Ask about application, origination and late fees, and whether any are added to the balance.
Is there a promotional rate?
If a low or zero rate applies for a while, ask what the rate becomes when it ends, and whether it's deferred interest: if the balance isn't paid in full by the end of the promotion, interest can be charged all the way back to the start.
Can I pay it off early?
Ask whether there's any penalty for paying early.
If insurance is paying for part of it
When a covered insurance claim pays for roof work, your deductible and anything the claim doesn't cover are still yours to pay. Your insurer explains what your policy covers; ask us about financing for the rest.
