Floors we install
Vinyl plank
A wood look that copes with spills and moisture better than wood or laminate, and is softer underfoot than tile. A common choice for kitchens, bathrooms and busy homes.
Laminate
A wood look with a hard, scratch-resistant surface, for less than real wood. Better kept out of rooms that get wet.
Tile
Ceramic or porcelain: hard-wearing and easy to clean, for kitchens, bathrooms and entries. It feels cool and hard underfoot.
Wood
Real wood, with the warmth the others imitate. It can scratch and doesn't like water, so it suits living areas and bedrooms more than wet rooms.
What happens to the old floor
A new floor needs a flat, sound base, so the old flooring usually comes up first. With it up, we check the subfloor and fix soft or uneven spots before the new floor goes down. Old water damage often shows up at this stage, especially around bathrooms and kitchens.
Trim and transitions
A floor isn't finished until its edges are. Baseboards or shoe molding cover the gap around the room, and transition strips join the new floor to the next room's. We also do trim and carpentry, so that finishing is part of the same job.
Drywall, trim and carpentryGetting ready for installation
Clear the rooms of small items and anything fragile, and tell us about large furniture and appliances that need moving. Some floors need to sit in the house for a while before they go down, to adjust to its temperature and humidity; we'll tell you if yours does.
Common questions
Which floor is right for a kitchen or bathroom?
Vinyl plank and tile handle spills and moisture better than laminate or wood. We'll talk through the options for your room.
Can new flooring go over my old floor?
Sometimes, if the old floor is flat, solid and well attached, but the old flooring usually comes up. We'll tell you which applies once we've seen it.
Do you install flooring in apartment units?
Yes. For apartment communities turning units between residents, see our apartment make-ready service.
